Palmyre Zoo in Royan
In the heart of the Côte de Beauté and the beaches of Charente Maritime, a few dunes from the town of Royan, discover one of the most renowned zoological parks in Europe: the Palmyre Zoo. This unique site now brings together more than 1,600 animals of 117 different species, representing all continents. Along the shaded paths that wind through 18 hectares of pine forest, let yourself be transported into the captivating world of wildlife.
The Palmyre zoo is located 30 km from the campsite, remember to buy your tickets at reduced prices at reception.
La Rochelle Aquarium (ticket office reception)
Dive into the heart of the oceans and discover more than 12,000 marine animals and 20 shark specimens at the Aquarium of La Rochelle. Let yourself be guided for a journey of more than two hours in the ocean depths and return to the surface while intoxicating yourself with the scents from elsewhere in the tropical garden.

The Oléron Island Museum
Created in 1963, the Oléron Island Museum has been housed in an 18th century building in Saint Pierre d'Oléron since 2006. The permanent collection presents the evolution of man on the island territory from the Neolithic to today as well as traditional activities such as oyster farming, viticulture, salt production, tapping and fishing.

During your stay, take an Inter-island cruise to discover La Rochelle, the island of Aix or walk around Fort Boyard. Transport ticket reservations are to be made at the campsite reception.

More than 160 km of cycle paths from the coast to the hinterland!
The island of Oléron has nearly 130 km of cycle routes accessible to all. The cycle paths, small country roads and coastal paths, most of which have a gentle gradient, allow the whole family to enjoy beautiful walks without getting too tired. The informative and directional signage is well thought out to prevent you from getting lost. Whether you want to spend a very sporty camping holiday or simply enjoy short walks just for fun, you have every reason to favour cycling during your stay on the island of Oléron!
Your cycling holiday starts at the campsite!
From the Camping au Château d'Oléron, you can head to the port of Salines in 20 minutes (7 km), stroll around the port of La Cotinière or park your two-wheeler at the edge of the Saumonards forest in Boyardville after a 1h30 walk (15 km), cycle to the "end of the world", the Chassiron Lighthouse, in 3h30 (35 km)... With 30 km long and 8 km at its widest point, the island of Oléron covers an area of 174 km², offering many possibilities for cycling culture and nature: make short tourist stops (heritage, gastronomy, traditions, etc.), stop for a nap in the shade of the pines, take a dip on the beach to cool off, regain your strength on the terrace of a restaurant in the first village you come across on your route... Useful and practical: bike rental on site!
Sometimes you have to make cruel choices for your holidays… whether or not to bring all the family’s bikes when the car is already loaded to the brim? Luckily, Camping Airotel Les Embruns d’Oléron has everything planned! In summer, a bike rental company comes to the campsite. If you miss out, you will find several partners 500 metres from the campsite!
