Ramparts circuit (7 km): short morning run and muscle strengthening
Perfect for enjoying a bit of morning freshness by the sea! From our campsite at Oleron Castle, a short circuit allows you to do a short 7 km jog. The opportunity to discover the oyster port and the marina, the citadel, the coastal landscapes of the South-East coast, with the backdrop of Aix Island, Fort Louvois And Fort Boyard.
First, walk 1.5 km and then reach the ramparts of the Oleron Castle to complete a beautiful 2.5 km loop. Under the gaze of the fortifications Vauban, you can walk around the citadel via the moats and take several bridges, footbridges and raised passages.
The little extra of the circuit: between the Porte d'Ors and the lake of the Phibie, a fitness trail with around twenty pieces of equipment allows you to complement your jogging with muscle strengthening, thighs/abs/glutes.
Iodized running with sea view (10 km round trip)
Always departing from our campsite on Oleron Island, join the beach of The Phibia At Oleron Castle (1.5 km), then follow the coast to the channel of the Brand, also known as Napoleon BridgeAccessible to athletes of all levels, this course presents no particular difficulty, with the ocean as the starting and finishing point.
This circuit training is also excellent for working on your short and long intervals, away from a track. And if you really want to push your workout, finish the session with a few minutes of running on sand to strengthen your ankles and joints.
For a long outing (> 1h15), you can continue your run after the bridge. Another possibility, another landscape: starting from the beach of The Phibia, join the citadel of Oleron Castle and follow the oyster parks to the White Point (also 10 km round trip).
The Fort Boyard Trail: the unmissable running race on the island of Oléron
Every year in July, the Trail du Fort Boyard offers several races suitable for all athletes in an exceptional setting: marina, national forest, beach, with breathtaking views of the Fort Boyard ! The Chassiron strides: 12 km at the tip of the island of Oléron
To get your legs warmed up before the racing season, take advantage of your stay on Oleron Island in August to participate in the races of Chassiron, a 12 km road race held north of Oleron Island, in the municipality of Saint-Denis. Very popular with running enthusiasts, the exceptional route passes through the northern tip of the island at the foot of the Chassiron Lighthouse, along the cliffs, through the vineyards and on the beach.
