Come observe birds and hike with a naturalist guide among lagoons, mudflats, and sandbanks.<\/p>\n<h2>Unspoiled nature facing the island of Ol\u00e9ron<\/h2>\n<p>Placed between the marsh of\u00a0<strong>Brouage<\/strong>\u00a0and the sea of\u00a0<strong>Pertuis,<\/strong>\u00a0in the heart of the bay of\u00a0<strong>Marennes-Oleron<\/strong>, the Nature Reserve of<strong>\u00a0Mo\u00ebze-Ol\u00e9ron<\/strong>\u00a0extends over 6,100 hectares of sea surface and 200 hectares of land surface, shared by breeders, fishermen, oyster farmers and thousands of birds. The reserve\u00a0<strong>Mo\u00ebze-Ol\u00e9ron<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the most important of\u00a0<strong>Charente-Maritime<\/strong>\u00a0and one of the nation&#039;s premier sites for migrating birds.<\/p>\n<h2>Independent nature outing on the interpretation trails<\/h2>\n<p>The nature reserve is open year-round. Several interpretive trails are accessible to families and individuals for self-guided visits. These marked trails are equipped with information panels, platforms, and observation decks, allowing for independent exploration of the site.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Lais de mer trail (1 km round trip)<\/li>\n<li>The Sabli\u00e8res trail (1 km round trip)<\/li>\n<li>The Polders Trail (1.4 km loop)<\/li>\n<li>The Tannes trail (2.5 km round trip, suitable for cycling)<\/li>\n<li>The Ch\u00e2teau d&#039;Ol\u00e9ron interpretation trail (2.8 km round trip)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A topoguide is available at the reserve&#039;s nature center, at the\u00a0<strong>Plaisance Farm<\/strong>The reception area also offers an interactive exhibition to discover the reserve&#039;s flora and fauna, including the water birds that inhabit the marshes. Nearly 300 species of birds have been observed between lagoons, mudflats and sandbanks.<\/p>\n<p>During the winter, the site welcomes nearly 20,000 geese and ducks and 80,000 waders who find shelter and food there. There are also nearly 13,000 red knots and 30,000 dunlins. It is one of the top five wintering sites for migratory birds in\u00a0<strong>France.<\/strong>\u00a0Some sometimes travel up to 15,000 kilometers before landing in the bay of\u00a0<strong>Marennes-Oleron<\/strong>\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>In spring and autumn, you can observe many species of nesting birds, including the Common Redshank, the Black-winged Stilt, the Pied Avocet, the Common Shelduck, the Black-tailed Godwit and the\u00a0<strong>Bluethroat<\/strong>\u00a0mirror.
